Dee Caffari For skipper Dee Caffari, this is a long-held ambition. When Sir Chay Blyth suggested the Aviva Challenge, she was hooked. Ellen Macarthur Ellen holds the world record for fastest circumnavigation. She is currently selecting a team for the 2007-9 IMOCA World Championship. She finished second in the famous solo non-stop round the world Vendée Globe race over the winter of 2000/2001 at the age of just 24.
Sharon Sites Adams A 1969 "Times", " Woman of the Year" recipient, Mrs. Adams had already done another first. In 1965 she had sailed singlehanded, a smaller boat (Danish Folkboat) from Marina Del Rey to Hawaii, an excursion that took 39 days. In 1969, Mrs. Adams followed up with a single-handed, 75 day journey from Yokohama, Japan to San Diego, California.
