Community Outreach

OWSA's reach extends into the community through events like ADVENTURESAIL® and Set Sail for a Cause (formerly Sail for the Cure®).

ADVENTURESAIL®ADVENTURESAIL® brings OWSA mentors and skippers together with Girls Inc. of NW Oregon (a non-profit that helps young at-risk girls) to provide this exciting adventure in Portland.

The girls ages 11-13 spend the day on and off the river, learning basic sailing skills, safety, environmental stewardship & even getting a chance at the helm. The event ends with a family picnic & celebration!

Set Sail for a Cause - September 20-21, 2014
Set Sail for a CauseFor 13 years, Oregon Women’s Sailing Association has mobilized volunteers to put on a first-class, family-oriented event that not only promoted sailing but raise money for a great cause.

This year’s beneficiary, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. Founded in 1949, it is relentless in the pursuit of it's mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. This is an exciting time for OWSA and if you’d like to help make a difference and be part of the Set Sail for a Cause team, please don’t hesitate to contact us at
