Wednesday Night Sails
A great way to meet new friends, practice skills and gain experience on a variety of boats. Share your boat, or crew with someone. Open & free to all OWSA members.
Here's how it works: Each Sunday night, an email is sent to all members inviting both skippers and crew to participate on the upcoming Wednesday. Those volunteering need to respond by Monday midnight. On Tuesday afternoon, skipper/crew lists are emailed out, along with contact information for the skipper and directions to the boat.
Crew Members: You are responsible to provide your own Personal Floatation Device (PFD). It is also customary to bring a snack to share with other crew members and the skipper. We also recommend bringing sailing gloves. Crew members need to be at the boat no later than 5:45 pm. This gives you time to stow your gear and help prepare the boat to sail. Boats leave the dock promptly at 6:00 pm and sail till dusk.
OWSA-Boat Owners: This is your chance to pass on the joy of sailing and take part in OWSA's core mission of encouraging women to sail. Wednesday Night Sails is so popular, we almost always need more boats, and we really appreciate your willingness to help out. We have many members that are very experienced and can provide you the confidence to take your boat out on the river! Please let us know if you have special requests so we can partner you up with the skill-sets/experience level you prefer.
New Members: Please indicate what experience level you are (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Let us know if you have any questions!
Cruising Class
Investigate the fundamentals of cruising the river. You are student and presenter as you research topics and share information with class mates. Topics change each year. Bring your boat. No boat? Attend each classroom session and we will find you a boat on which to prep and cruise. Includes Basic Cruising by US Sailing. Register 3 weeks early and we'll find you a boat. Question?
