Raising Sails to Raise Funds

Sail for the Cure, an OWSA benefit for the Oregon & Southwest Washington affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is our way of giving back to the community—combining sailing, support and encouragement all in one great event.

  • Sail for the Cure
    A fun event for the entire family that emphasizes boat handling skills and cooperation rather than competition. We welcome everyone from non-sailors to expert sailors, male or female, boat owners & non-boat owners.
  • After Sail Event
    Those unable to sail, or those who want to top off an incredible day on the river, can meet up with other Sail for the Cure Sailors at the Portland Yacht club to enjoy live music, food, and dancing.
  • Benefit Auctions
    The silent auction has always been a popular event with items ranging from beautiful artwork to weekend getaways. A live auction following dinner has also been added. Your auction donation can help make the benefit even more successful.

An estimated 40,110 women and 470 men will die of breast cancer in the United States this year. Since its inception in 2000, the OWSA Sail for the Cure has raised more than $150,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Last year saw 350 participants & 56 boats!
